This is what pisses me off about Tumblr. You all say you’re so accepting and you don’t want to offend anyone, but then thousands of people reblog something like this because Christians aren’t the minority. You wouldn’t want to offend a Muslim, and if this were offensive to them or another minority, there’d be so many comments about it. But everyone is completely fine with offending a non minority. “You’re not oppressed, you can’t talk!” You know what? I’m a Christian and this offends me and my faith, but nobody’s going to care about that because I’m not oppressed. Tumblr is hypocritical and that needs to stop.

Amen to the comment

Oh my precious lambs:

Examine why you are being offended. Because this is literally how a sunset works. There is not room for debate on this question. There is less room for debate on this than there is on just about any other thing. We are not reblogging because Christians aren’t the minority, dear ones. We are reblogging because after the debate a few days ago, creationists were given the opportunity to pose a question for non-creationists. One of these questions was:

"How can you explain a sunset if their is no god?" (sp.)

Questions, we assume, are posed so that someone might answer them. And yes, there is an answer of how exactly one can explain a sunset given the absence of a divine force. Now, you can certainly posit that God is the creator of all things and so all things came from him including the sun and light refraction and anthrax and kittens and famine and all that jazz.

But you don’t get to deny that THIS IS HOW A SUNSET WORKS, and of the necessary elements of this equation (Sun + Atmosphere + Angle = Sunset), God is not one of them. That’s because everything else is an observable phenomenon, and God is not. You can explain a sunset without God. You can go ahead and believe that God’s part of it all. That’s cool. Lots of people believe stuff like that, and I encourage you to delve into the ways that people make science and their faith jive. But if you are offended by being shown the basic scientific principals behind a sunset, you must be offended by damn near everything. And that seems exhausting.

In short:

People getting butthurt over science, fucking love it.

"Stop teaching science, it offends me"

Some things happen in a certain way undeniably, that is a truth. That absolutely does not negate the possibility that god set them up to work that way, that in the intricate design of the universe a god made everything mesh up just so, created the rules which science follows, all that.

Why isn’t that good enough? It acknowledges proven fact without negating faith, it in no way diminishes the power of a potential god. It’s coexistence in the most harmless, functional of ways.

On another note of that post of Creationists being offended by science.

There was a lady who once told me I was going to hell for believing in evolution. I told her that I am Christian, a raised Presbyterian, and I’m also heavily into science. I plan on teaching science to children for a living.

when will i
get to bloom too?

This is a weed.

And it holds every child’s hopes and dreams.

"Weed" is a word for "plant I don’t know how to do anything with yet." But weeds, as a rule, are successful species. Because they can grow anywhere and they can live through anything.

So can you.

Be a weed. Grow, adapt, flourish, and don’t give a fuck what anyone else thinks of you because of how pretty or useful you are. You are. That is enough.

I’m 35, will be 36 soon. I was horribly awkward well into my twenties. I don’t even think I really started anything resembling “blooming”, knowing who I am and being comfortable in my own skin, til I hit thirty. I do remember feeling the things in the original comic when I was in my teens and early twenties; I wish I could have shown my younger self where I am now. But I can’t, so I’ll just let others know that there’s not a damned thing wrong with us late bloomers.

Because the show is in a lot of ways about labels, Kieren is called a lot of things: a Partially Deceased Syndrome Sufferer, The First Risen, an Angel of Heaven, a Rotter, a Dead ‘Un. There are all these labels that people put on him, and it’s the same in life as well. People like to put others in boxes. So I kind of wanted Kieren’s sexuality to be that he falls in love with the person. Obviously he’s attracted to men, I think he’s attracted to women too. He’s attracted to their personality, and I quite like that, rather than “oh yes, he’s a gay zombie”. I didn’t want it to be a big deal. I know a lot of shows that deal with these sorts of issues; they make it the centrepiece of the character, that’s their only facet. It’s only once facet of Kieren, he’s got bigger fish to fry. There are bigger issues at hand than dealing with his sexuality. He’s quite comfortable with that, it’s being a zombie that he has trouble with.

"why do you like floral prints so much" because i’m not a person. secretly i’m just a mass of bees. trying to blend in with humans. unable to let go of my love of flowers

Alright, I just watched “All about that base”.

Now, I’m going to preface this with a round of “I’m very glad the video exists, there should be more like it because body positivity needs to spread”. Because that’s the truth.

However, I cannot understate how fucking furiousI am that any of those women are considered fat.

For real, that’s not what fat is. Considering their bone structure and genetics those women couldn’t get much healthier, and if you’re within a healthy weight range then YOU ARE NOT FAT. With their frames it would be physically impossible to fit a size two, and with their natural weight distribution trying to get that bony shoulder look could kill them. They weren’t fat, they were the exact weight they’re supposed to be, and that is sexy. That’s a fact that everyone should grow up knowing and I am completely sickened that this culture has fallen so far in it’s concept of beauty.

This video needed to happen, a thousand more like it need to happen, and more importantly we need body types like that all over the place without associating them with obesity. Then maybe we can move on to supporting people with actual weight problems.
